I have had several people ask me... How do you pronounce your company's name - Is it "flutter-bye" or "flutter-bee?" The answer, of course, is the former. The word "flutterby" is a play on the word "butterfly," and is what some believe to be the original term for the beautiful creature that flutters from flower to flower in the spring and summer. Butterflies are of particular meaning to me because my mother, who passed a year ago this month, loved butterflies. I believe that she enjoyed them not just for their physical beauty, but also for what they represent - New life, transformation, gentleness, and the journey along life's continuum. Now that we are entering the fall season, we are sure to miss the butterflies of warmer weather and longer days. But, perhaps we can hold them in our hearts... and as the seasons change from fall to winter, and then back to spring again, we can look forward to more butterflies; and more babies; and more glimpses of the power of the pathway from the womb to the world.
